A FEW WORDS
Ivan Torres is an urban and regional planner with a passion for design justice, land use, and inclusive, community-centered development. With a Master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Minnesota’s Humphrey School of Public Affairs and dual Bachelor's degrees in Architecture and Environmental Design, Ivan brings both technical rigor and creative vision to the planning profession.
His work bridges the gap between design and equity, with a focus on ensuring that underrepresented communities are not only included but empowered throughout every stage of the planning process. From neighborhood-scale interventions to citywide strategies, Ivan has led efforts that prioritize accessibility, sustainability, and cultural relevance in the built environment.
Ivan has contributed to research at the Humphrey School, supporting the development of an Urban Agriculture Atlas and a public exhibit exploring planning policy and physical transformation along West Broadway an area emblematic of both systemic disinvestment and community-led renewal in Minneapolis.
When he’s not working, Ivan finds inspiration in travel, photography, reading, and collaborating with grassroots organizations dedicated to environmental justice and cultural preservation.
